My name is David Swartz, I grew up in Philly and went to Tyler School of Art and achieved a BA in blah…blah….blah…… That’s all cool but do we really care?! Here’s the short of the long of it. I was born, started drawing a gang of years later, struggled with being a human, wanted to die, started doing drugs, felt better, then felt much worse, got sober, found recovery, felt really crazy, then felt a bit better, slowly, slowly, very slowly, grew into a human than didn’t struggle being a human as much. Huzzah! Here I am now, I may have left out that fact that I painted and painted, and drew, and found solace in my creative practice along the way. To say a little something about that creative practice…
I work with various water based paints to create bright and energetic artwork with a humorous twist. I strive to use art to create beauty and connection. Connecting people with each other, nature, and themselves. These connections are what enrich the world, and create a sense of unity that helps dissolve the isolation, hate, and selfishness that pollute so many people's lives. If I wasn’t painting, I’d be dying...well dying at a quicker pace that is. Huzzah!
